Your Beauty Treats

Benefit Cosmetics Dew the Hoola Liquid Bronzer – Full Size £22.50

Birch Box Review - April 2016

Everyone adores a golden, sun-kissed glow, but not all bronzers deliver the natural look we are aiming for, they’re often uneven, too shimmery, or just plain unnatural-looking but this new liquid bronzer from Benefit is the foolproof way to achieve incredibly natural look, quickly and easily!  This new version of their best-selling Hoola Matte Bronzer melts into skin for a shimmerless, semi-matte, and totally natural finish that can be used all over the face for a radiant post-holiday look, or applied it under cheekbones, along the jaw, and under the hairline for a face-slimming, contoured effect.  I have received a sample of this bronzer before in one of Birch Box’s fabulous Limited Edition Benefit Collection Boxes, and found it really easy to get the hang of and got great results so I am happy to receive another handy handbag sized bottle to keep me going into the summer!  I am now dying to try their liquid body bronzer now too as it looks just as easy to use and I am usually terrible with fake tan!

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Eyeliner in Black – Full Size £11.00

Birch Box Review - April 2016

Fashion designer Cynthia Rowley has already created an amazing range of a high-performance make-up made for fashion-savvy woman, but she’s breaking new ground with her playful yet stylish collection of eye liners that come in on-trend shades like rose gold and silver.  These creamy pencils glide on velvety-smooth, and the smudge-proof formula lasts all day long.  This carbon black liner gives a beautiful, sharp liner look, instantly glamourising any make-up look and the results are nothing short of eye-opening.  I love black eyeliner and this gel-like pencil is a great introduction to Cynthia Rowley’s make-up range!

Birch Box Review - April 2016

If you rarely wake up with a “well-rested” look, you’re not alone (actually, you’re in the majority) and you’re fed up of applying eye creams and concealers in an effort to try to treat and cover those pesky dark circles then this dual-purpose, anti-ageing tinted eye cream is your dream come true!  Containing a potent blend of cucumber seed and rose-hip oils brighten, soothe, and hydrate the sensitive skin around our eyes along with arctic cloudberry seed extract that packs an anti-ageing punch of antioxidants, vitamin E and Hyaluronic acid, which holds more than 1000 times its weight in water, makes this potent product perfect for plumping and firming our under-eye areas while the universal shade conceals dark circles and brightens the eye area with the help of natural light-reflecting particles leaving you ready to take on the day – no matter how many hours of shut-eye you may have had the night before.  I suffer with AWFUL dark circles no matter how much sleep I get so this tiny tube of tinted eye cream is a fabulous product for me!  It means I can treat and tint in one simple step, making my morning make-up routine quicker and more manageable too!  It’s perfect for on the go ‘touch ups’ too and is an ideal to cut down the clutter in your make-up bag and streamline your beauty routine!

PARLOR by Jeff Chasten De-tangling Leave-In Conditioner – Full Size £17.00

Birch Box Review - April 2016

Birch Box don’t often chose a hair product for their monthly boxes based on scent alone, but in this case the fresh mix of ripe peach, cut grass, and white woods is reason enough for this leave-in conditioner to make the April line up!  Developed by veteran hairstylist Jeff Chastain, this spray combines amazing de-tangling power with heat protection and nourishing sweet almond extract, vitamin B5  and nettle extract to keep your scalp and hair looking and feeling healthy, with a fabulous sleek shine and volume without added weight.  What’s more it’s safe for colour-treated hair and has a formula that is 100% free from sulfates, parabens, and gluten.  Having thick, frizzy hair means washing my hair is a lengthy process, but this leave-in conditioner helps to de-tangle my unruly curls and leaves my hair looking healthy and smelling great!  Love it!

Kueshi Foot Care Cream – Full Size £12.00

Birch Box Review - April 2016

Our feet are often the most neglected part of our bodies and after a long, cold winter tucked up in socks, slippers and Uggs our feet can be left in need of some well deserved TLC!  So with summer on the way when our Uggs will be swapped for swanky candles, why should our feet have to wait the weeks (or even months) between pedicures to get some attention?  This foot-softening treatment from Kueshi is formulated with natural ingredients like sweet almond oil and royal jelly to nourish dry, unloved skin while anti-bacterial tea tree oil leaves them feeling fresh, clean, fragrant and ready to face the world!  In my opinion, foot creams are as important a part of our beauty routine as hand creams are, but like many woman, I often forget about my feet and they are certainly not summer ready right now, but this light-weight, easily absorbed cream is the perfect way to treat your toes the TLC they need without leaving them greasy or sticky making it perfect to use morning or evening to keep your feet fresh and flip-flop friendly!  This is a great addition to this month’s Birch Box and I love the fresh scent and clean feeling it gives your feet after every use!

Bonus Treats

Rifle Paper Co. Moss Garden Notebook Set – Full Size £12.00

Birch Box Review - April 2016

As well as your regular beauty treats in this month’s Birch Box, you were also given the option to add a bonus treat of two exclusive pocket notebooks from quirky Florida-based stationery and lifestyle brand Rifle Paper Co. for an additional £4.00 on top of your regular subscription fee.  With 64 blank pages and lay-flat binding, each of these petite notebooks can also double as a sketch pad and are perfect for obsessive list makers and dreamy journal keepers alike!  I love this pretty pair of pocket notebooks that are adorned with a beautiful botanical print that perfectly matches Birch Box’s Blooming Marvellous theme and these stylishly slim journals will add a pretty flourish anyone’s handbag!  I love journals and planners so these notebooks were a must-have addition to my April box and I love them!  They have also included a 25% discount voucher to use over on the Rifle Paper Co. website too so you can stock up on super cute stationary at a fraction of the cost!

My Verdict

After feeling a little disappointed by my March BirchBox I was hoping for a more exciting box this month and seeing that they were going to collaborate with the quirky stationary and lifestyle brand, Rifle Paper Co. really excited me!  As an obsessive list maker, journal keeper and notebook hoarder I LOVE anything that involves stationary and the adorable floral prints that have been designed exclusively for April’s BirchBox were right up my street!  Along side the Limited Edition boxes, Rifle Paper Co. have also designed a beautiful set of notebooks to go with BirchBox’s April Box which are available to BirchBox subscribers at a promotional price and of course I couldn’t say no to such a pretty set of pocket notebooks so I chose to add these to my April Box and I am more than happy with my bonus buy!  They are an ideal size to use in my handbag, and perfect for making notes on the go!  As well as looking amazing, this month Blooming Marvellous BirchBox is full of fantastic products that are just the ticket to shake up your makeup bag, and give your skin a beautiful glow.  The combination of makeup must-haves and savvy skin care is perfect for the Spring and gives you everything you need to step out in style, looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed from head to toe!  I love the selection of treats in this months box and although I have already received a sample of Benefit’s new Dew the Hoola Liquid Bronzer in a previous BirchBox, it is such a great little product I am happy to have an extra supply to last me well in to the summer.  The luxurious foot cream from Kueshi is a touch of beauty box genius too, as after a long, cold winter, my toes were more like trotters and my heels as hard as granite so to get a refreshing foot cream to soften my skin and make my feet summer ready was a real treat!  I also love that you can easily create a fresh, summery makeup look using just the products in this box and because the products are lovely and versatile they will be easily incorporated into your regular makeup routine.  I have really enjoyed all the products on April’s BirchBox and the great variety of products included has made this one of my favourite BirchBox Edits to date!

My Beauty Favourite

With such an amazing line up of products in this month’s Birch Box, picking just one favourite is hard but there was one product that really stood out for me and that was the Balance Me Tinted Wonder Eye Cream.  I love it’s handy 2-in-1 formula that nourishes and brightens the delicate eye area, while effectively covering dark circles giving you the look of a good night’s sleep in a flash!
