Elegant Touch Nail Apothecary Nail Quencher – Full Size £7.95

NailBox Review - April 2016

Formulated with ultra-moisturising Jasmine extract & Flaxseed oil, this rich moisturiser combats dry & brittle nails. The added ingredient of Horsetail provides a soothing element for healthy, hydrated nails.  I almost permanently have gel or gel polish on my nails, and even though gel is always 100% healthier for your nails than acrylic – it still takes its toll and often leaves my nails in need of a little TLC, so this hydrating 2-in-1 treatment polish is ideal for restoring my nails natural strength while the subtle tinted formula keeps them looking fresh and manicured during the seven day treatment period.  This is a really handy little product for me and has enabled me to go gel free for a few days, meaning my nails are feeling stronger and less brittle, and are looking naturally shiny and healthy!

Ciaté London Glitter Paint Pots Nail Polish in London Baby – Full Size £9.00

NailBox Review - April 2016

Light up your party manicure like fireworks in the London night sky.  From Big Ben to Tower Bridge become a London icon with this twinkling midnight party inspired polish.  Ciaté London produce amazing, high quality nail polishes and I have used several of their regular shades in the past but never tried one of their Glitter Paint Pots so I am really excited to see this in my April NailBox!  Their glitter-filled formula and flat bristle brush give a flawless application and a chip-resistant, long-lasting finish that will leave your nails sparkling like black diamonds!  This silver and black glitter nail polish is perfect for NailBox’s April Birthday themed box and makes your nails look amazing!

Elegant Touch Stylist Pre-Glued Nail Gems Metallic Cuticle Strips – Full Size £2.95

NailBox Review - April 2016

Your cuticles will thank you for using these gorgeous metallic cuticle strips from Elegant Touch’s New Stylist Collection!  These pretty silver and gold blinged up chevrons make your manicure stand out amongst the crowd and are quick and easy to apply as they are pre-glued and ready to go!  I love adding a little bit of bling to your mani or pedi and these handy metallic cuticle strips have made nail art accessible to everyone!  Although I did really like the idea of these cute little nail gems, they haven’t included many strips in the packet, and you only get twelve of each colour so not enough to do a full matching manicure so I’d recommend only using them to create a statement nail look or mixing and matching between the silver and gold of you really wanted to bling out your fingers.

Invogue Pro-Formula Core Colours Nail Laquer in Sugar Daddy – £2.99

NailBox Review - April 2016

Invogue’s Core Colours Collection gives you everything you need to keep up to date with all the latest seasonal must-have nail polish colours from hot neons to nudes and neutrals, they have it all!  Their professional quality, fast-drying formula makes Invogue Nail Polishes great value for money and really easy to use too.  I received the shade Sugar Daddy which is a bright, fuchsia pink that is perfect for the up coming summer and adds a welcome pop of colour to my fingers, leaving them looking vibrant and full of the joys of spring!  What’s more all Invogue’s formulations are free from Toluene, Formaldehyde, Camphor and DBP, meaning they don’t just make your nails look good, they won’t damage them while you brighten up your manicure or pedicure either!

Bourjois Paris So Laque! Ultra Shine Nail Polish in Bleu Asphalte – Full Size £7.99

NailBox Review - April 2016

Bourjois have created a unique formula that is enriched with twice as much vinyl as regular nail polishes, and contains a complex of highly reflective resins for ultra shiny nails with a long-lasting hold that not only keeps your nails strong, supple and ultra shiny it also makes sure they are highly chip-resistant for up to seven days hold too!  I received the shade Bleu Asphalte, which is a deep smokey blue-grey.  I really loved this dark and stormy shade and have enjoyed wearing it.  It does give a good high shine finish and is more chip-resistant than some other polishes I have used but it didn’t last the full seven days which was a little disappointing as it took longer to dry and is a much thicker, more gel-like formula than a normal polish so I was expecting a longer lasting product.  For the price tag I think I would rather have bought a couple of cheaper polishes that were quicker drying as with a good top coat they could easily last as long as this pricey polish.

My Verdict

There’s no doubt that NailBox have chosen some great nail products for their birthday edit this April, and the grey and pink colour themes running through the box make all the polishes really usable and they work really well together too.  The brands featured in April’s box are typical for NailBox meaning you’ve got products from both Elegant Touch and Invogue along with the added bonus of one of my favourite polish brands, Ciaté London, and high street favourite Bourgeois Paris also making an appearance giving you a total of three full size nail polishes, a full size nail treatment and a nail art product to complete this birthday box.  I love the colours the polishes this month – they are really wearable and work really well together so you can mix and match for amazing and unique nail polish looks.  The combination of dark greys, glitter and bold pink really work for me and I will get a lot of use out these shades!  The Nail Apothecary Nail Quencher Treatment is a sight for sore nails this month too – after months of cold weather and constant gel polish, my nails are in need of a shot of moisture to get them back up to strength and this seven day treatment is the perfect balance between treatment and polish as it’s pretty tinted formula leaves nails looking neat and manicured while deeply nourishing and hydrating dry, brittle nails.  I have only been using it for a few days and haven’t completed the full treatment cycle but my nails already feel stronger and healthier.  I was a little disappointed with the Metallic Cuticle Strips from Elegant Touch’s new Stylist Collection as although they do look amazing on your nails, and add a pretty hint of bling, they only gave you twelve of each colour meaning you couldn’t complete a full set of nails with matching nail art, meaning if you wanted every nail decorated you’d have to use both the gold and silver strips which may not work with the polish you wanted to use.  I think if you are going to include nail art transfers and gems, you need to have enough to use on every finger as not everyone likes to have statement nails or nails that don’t look identical.  Apart from the issue with the cuticle strips, which I did think looked amazing on, I think this was the best NailBox I have received so far and I have really enjoyed using the products in this box!  If more of their boxes were like this I would be a much happier subscriber, so I am hoping this brighter and more bold box theme continue well into the summer!

My Beauty Favourite

My April Beauty Favourite was the Ciaté London Glitter Paint Pots Nail Polish in London Baby.  I love their regular nail polishes and getting the chance to try one of their gorgeous glitter paint pots was a real treat!  I loved that you could use it alone or over a regular polish or gel, and it went well with both the other nail polishes included in this month’s NailBox too meaning I have been able to create lots of sparkly, celebration nail looks that have made my nails look bold and bright ready for the up coming summer!
