Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet – Full Size £23.00

BirchBox Review - May 2016

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet has an immediate and long-lasting, calming, soothing action on even the most sensitive of skins!  It reactivates the skin’s hydration mechanisms and restores it’s water reserves, strengthening the skin making it feel softer and more comfortable.  This advanced gel-cream has been reformulated, specifically with sensitive skin in mind this light-weight moisturiser is great for all skin types, from sensitive and dry to oily and acne-prone, and blasts skin with hydration while simultaneously reducing redness with its patented blend of organic grape water, which is key to reactivating your skin’s hydration mechanisms, soothing chamomile and antioxidant rich grape-derived polyphenols making this the perfect tonic for skin need of some TLC.  I have tried a small sample of this product in the past so had some ideas that I wasn’t going to enjoy trying it again but I couldn’t have been more wrong!  This light-weight sorbet melted into my skin leaving it feeling refreshed and hydrated and didn’t irritate my hormonal breakouts or unbalance my skin in any way.  A refreshing change to your usual moisturiser!

Rituals Tao | Wai Wang Mild Exfoliating Body Scrub contains a combination of ultra-fine Chinese Bamboo particles within a rich cream base to gently and intensely remove dead skin cell and instantly hydrates without leaving the skin feeling sticky or greasy.  Enriched with calming White Lotus and nourishing Yi Yi Ren extract it promotes the absorption of its valuable active ingredients in a nourishing body cream. Regular use of an exfoliation treatment like this helps to keep skin looking healthy and radiant and also promotes an intense, even tan for all the sun worshippers looking forward to the summer.  This mild exfoliator is also suited to more sensitive areas, such as neck and décolletage so can be used all over the boys for a complete spa like shower experience!

Spectrum Collections Unicorn Tears Wonder Sponge – Full Size £4.99

BirchBox Review - May 2016

The clever folks at Spectrum Collections clearly know that two heads (or, in this case, ends) are better than one and have created this amazing latex-free tool with a rounded edge and a pointed tip making it the ultimate multi-purpose tool for applying your favourite cream, mineral, and liquid products.  Perfect for achieving that flawless make-up look that we’re always striving for, it blends in products effortlessly for a seamless finish.  Use the rounded edge of the sponge to apply your favourite foundation, using a tapping and blending motion all over your face to distribute evenly.  Switch to the pointed tip to apply concealer under your eyes or to blend your base in around your nose and for the perfect application of your favourite cream blush or contour, simply use the edge of the sponge to apply and blend in the colour.  After the amazing Spectrum Collection Brush that Birch Box included in their February Box I was more than a little excited to find another of their amazing make-up tools included in my May Box and it didn’t disappoint!  It’s light-weight, spongey texture gives an even, natural looking coverage and makes quick work of contouring and concealing too!  Wonder Sponge is the perfect name for this multi-tasking miracle tool and I love it!  The name is so cute its unreal and the bright, vibrant colour makes it a beautiful addition to anyones make-up bag!  Bring us more Spectrum Collections make-up brushes soon please Birch Box!

theBalm® Cosmetics Stainiac in Beauty Queen – Full Size £10.00

BirchBox Review - May 2016

I am a huge fan of theBalm® Cosmetics so I was really excited to see if their lip products were as good as their amazing range of palettes.  This two-in-one lip and cheek stain gives a natural, understated flush and helps get you out the door faster each morning by multi-tasking like a dream and covering quickly leaving a sheer tint in seconds!  The tinted gel may look dark in the tube, but it leaves a sheer but long-lasting stain on lips and cheeks and it’s water-based means it has a longer setting time than most quick-dry stains, giving you more time to blend and less chance of those unsightly streaks that often come with other staining tints!  Beauty Queen is a good rosy shade that gives a natural flush of colour suitable for all skin tones, and looks great on both my cheeks and lips.  It took some time to get used to as you have a little longer to blend and build your colour then with other popular multi-purpose tints, but the results are long-lasting and natural looking making it the perfect holiday hero and will help make you morning make-up routine quicker and less fussy, meaning you get more time in bed working on your beauty sleep!  Perfect!

Philip Kingsley PK Prep Polishing Balm – Full Size 18.50

BirchBox Review - May 2016

Philip Kingsley’s smoothing hair balm works on all hair types to smooth, condition, and tame whatever style you’re after.  It’s packed with nourishing ProVitamin B5 and vitamin A to add shine and gloss while nourishing your locks as well!  Ideal for use on damp or dry hair to protect and perfect your hair this versatile balm added an instant boost to my dry, frizz prone hair, helping to smooth split ends and heat damage, as well as giving outstanding heat and styling protection to prevent further damage occurring.  I have to say I am more of a wash-and-go kind of girl when it comes to shampooing my hair, so sometimes neglect to add a mask or treatment to my routine so this leave-in conditioning balm is the ideal solution to keep my hair looking and feeling good!

Vita Coco Coconut Oil – Full Size £9.99

BirchBox Review - May 2016

You can’t open a beauty magazine or read a beauty blog without seeing someone singling the praises of Coconut Oil!  It’s literally a multi-tasking beauty miracle and can also make a mean alternative to butter when baking and surcharge a smoothie too!  Vita Coco has been a market leader when it comes to Coconut Water so when Birch Box heard they had launched a Coconut Oil they had to get in on the action!  Formulated using coconuts from the same groves as their coconut water, this multi-purpose wonder cream, with an array of amazing uses – think outstanding facial and body moisturiser, rich, conditioning hair mask, or amazing tooth whitening treatment – Coconut Oil does it all and if their premium quality oil is even half as good as Vita Coco’s best-selling Coconut Water products then this handy sample sachet will have you smiling for so many reasons!  I have used a couple of Coconut Oil based products including Leo & Goa’s amazing Tooth Whitening Oil Pulling Treatment and have been really impressed with the results and decided to try this sample out of my hair to mix things up a bit and I was amazed with the results!  I really need to get myself a full size tub so I can start benefiting from this natural do-it-all dream cream!

My Verdict

This month’s Birch Box has a arrived and they have brought your all your beauty dreams in one exciting Limited Edition ‘For the Dreamers…’ Box, and with the chance to win the holiday of your dreams too, they’ve covered all the wish-list basics and then some!  I have been disappointed with a few of the recent offerings from Birch Box so I had high hopes for this month’s dream inspired box, and my faith has defiantly been restored!  Not only is the packaging out of this world, the contents offer both amazing value for money and a dreamy selection of luxe beauty samples to help you achieve the flawless skin and fabulous hair you’ve only ever dreamed of until now!  I love that this month’s box has given you a good selection of products, from skin care and body care to make-up and hair care – there’s something for everyone and each product is suitable for all skin types and suits all skin tones too making it a really versatile and usable box.  It’s got an all over exfoliating scrub from Rituals that will wash away your tired winter skin, revealing a healthier more radiant you that is ready to make the most of the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet, an anti-oxidant rich moisturising gel-cream that will nourish and soothe even the most sensitive of skins, leaving it hydrated and ready to apply your make-up!  This perfect pairing is made all the more amazing by the addition of a full size Spectrum Collections Unicorn Tears Wonder Sponge that will quickly apply your base, foundation and contour and Stainiac Lip and Cheek Stain from big beauty brand theBalm® Cosmetics to finish your make-up look – leaving you looking fresh-faced and ready to face the day in no time at all!  I love a good multi-tasking product – anything that saves me time in the morning is a real bonus so both these products are big winners for me!  I also loved that Birch Box have included a good sized sample of PK Prep Polishing Balm from hair care giant Philip Kingsley to help hydrate and heal your frazzled and flyaway hair without taking the time to sit with a treatment mask after shampooing!  Perfect!  The final item in this month’s box is another must-tasking miracle product!  The ever popular Coconut Oil just got a make-over courtesy of the guys at Vita Coco and to celebrate the launch of their newest product they’ve got together with the lovelies at Birch Box to make sure all their subscribers get an exclusive sample of this naturally good for your beauty must-have!  From the stunning packaging to the array of beauty treats, May’s ‘For the Dreamers…’ Birch Box Edit has ticked all the boxes I want ticked when I receive a beauty box!  It’s a super versatile and easy to use beauty box, with products that really can be used by anyone without worrying about skin sensitivity or colour clashes, and the Spectrum Collections Unicorn Tears Wonder Sponge (please take another moment to squeal at that super cute name!) is a fab little find and has really made me want the full set of Spectrum Collections Make-Up brushes!  This multi-tasking box is perfect for holidays, busy mornings or the lazier beauty addicts that prefer a few more minutes beauty sleep to sitting in the shower with a hair mask on, or swapping beauty tools and make-up products during your daily beauty routine.  I have really enjoyed this month’s Birch Box – it’s one of the best boxes I have ever received from them and I am just gutted my dream box didn’t give me a dream holiday too!  At least it gives me all the products that will keep me looking flawless when I go camping later on this year!

My Beauty Favourite

With this being one of the best Birch Box Edition’s I have received since subscribing almost a year ago, it’s hard to pick out a Beauty Favourite, but I think it will have to be the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet because it was the only product I was a little disappointed to see in May’s ‘For the Dreamers…’ Box as I though I had tried it previously and not liked it, but boy! was I wrong!  I loved it!  So this surprising little sorbet in its gorgeous pink tube has the upper hand on everything else in this all round dreamy beauty box!  It was a close call though – that Spectrum Collections Wonder Sponge and it’s super cute name came a very close second!  Who couldn’t love something with the name Unicorn Tears Winder Sponge?
