Hawaiian Tropic Protective Dry Oil SPF15 – Full Size £13.99

Glossy Box Review - May 2016

This gorgeous coconut fragranced Protective Dry Oil SPF 15 from Hawaiian Tropic is made using a blend of Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Beta Carotene, Carrot Oil and Vitamin C & E Complexes to keep your skin soft and moisturised while providing protection from both UVA and UVB rays.  It’s water-resistant formula and medium SPF combine to give optimum protection even while in the water, and its luxurious ‘dry feel’ technology and tropical fragrance make it a pleasure to apply!  Containing natural ingredients such as mag, papaya and passion fruit, Hawaiian Tropic’s Protective Dry Oil is the perfect holiday just-have this summer and even though I prefer the continuous spray sun protection products, the heavenly fragrance this dry oil has means I will definitely be using it to keep my skin protected when I head off on my travels later this year!

Absolute New York Velvet Lippie in Lolita – Full Size £4.93

Glossy Box Review - May 2016

Looking for a long-wearing matte lipstick that won’t dry out your lips or crack under pressure?  Then look no further than the innovative and intensely pigmented Velvet Lippie from Absolute New York!  Its light-weight, non-drying mousse formula glides on easily then sets for a super comfortable, long-lasting plush matte finish.  Available in 24 shades, from vibrant statement colours to classic neutrals – I received the shade Lolita – a pop of bright baby pink that has cool undertones and looks great on and gives good matte coverage that lasts longer than I expected from such a light-weight liquid lipstick.

Revlon Ultra Volume™ Mascara – Full Size £9.99

Glossy Box Review - May 2016

Love Lashes?  Then let me introduce you to Revlon’s new Ultra Volume™ Mascara!  It allows you to create massive, volumised lashes with out the need for false lashes or lash extension and it’s conditioning, clump free formula plumps the natural lashes for intense volume and length.  Revlon’s exclusive Lash Plumping Brush™ has triple grooves to hold the mascara formula for maximum lash volume along with both long and short bristles to eliminate clumps and coat every lash evenly, giving you lashes that are insanely thick and voluminous.  As a lash junkie I LOVE a good mascara and was really excited when I got to choose which of the new Revlon Mascaras I wanted to have in my May Glossy Box and I chose their Ultra Volume™ Mascara in Blackest Black.  This mascara is a dense carbon black shade that instantly boosts the look of your natural lashes, and the Lash Plumping Brush™ brash evenly coats my lashes, fanning them out for a great volumising look.  The formula was a little drying on my lashes, but the mascara definitely gives your lashes the wow factor and it’s clump-free formula makes achieving this look really easy!

Bee Good Youth Enhancing Plump & Firm Moisturiser – Full Size £23.50

Glossy Box Review - May 2016

This intensive daily moisturiser is bursting with precious, hydrating British honey, antioxidant-rich propolis and potent raspberry seed oil, rich in moisture-boosting essential fatty acids that improves the visible signs of ageing and leaves the skin with a bee-autiful, youthful glow.  Containing Hyaluronic acid that helps to retain moisture with in the skin’s cells and helps to plump and soften the appearance of fine lines whilst concentrated algae extract tightens and strengthens the skin.  This light-weight, serum-like moisturiser intensively hydrated my skin without leaving it feeling heavy and overloaded, and left my dull winter skin looking dewy with a youthful luminosity, and a healthy radiant glow.  I have used a few Bee Good products before and loved them all, and this is no exception.  The natural bee propolis is perfect for my sensitive, combination skin as it calms and soothes irritation and has a natural antimicrobial action to help prevent breakouts.  A great addition to this box and a good light-weight daily moisturiser for the summer.

Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser – Full Size £8.99

Glossy Box Review - May 2016

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is a mild, non-irritating formulation that soothes skin as it cleans making it ideal for sensitive and eczema prone skin.  Designed specifically to remove unwanted impurities, without stripping the skin’s natural protective oils and emollients or upsetting the natural pH balance, this fragrance free skin cleanser is exceptionally soothing and suitable for daily use on the face and body and will even remove stubborn make-up and dirt.  It’s gentle formula can be used on even the driest of skin, and works both with or without water depending on your preference.  I have heard of Cetaphil products before and know that they are good for dry, sensitive skin like mine but have just never gotten round to trying any of them so finding a sample of their gentle cleanser in my May Glossy Box was a welcome sight and I decided to try out its claims to be suitable to use on both the face and body and used it in the shower!  The formula wasn’t overly exciting to use – but neither are most of my bath and shower products due to the fact I need fragrance free and pH balanced products to prevent an eczema flare up – but it cleaned my skin really well, leaving it feeling much fresher than my normal shower gel and didn’t dry my skin out or cause any irritation, and when I used it on my face it left my skin feeling refreshed and soothed as well as squeaky clean!  It calmed my ‘time of the month’ breakout and was a lot nicer to use than I expected! A big thumbs up to Cetaphil!  I will be exploring your range further!

PROPERCORN Pop Corn Snack Bag in Lightly Salted – Full Size Pack of Six Snack Bags £5.00

Glossy Box Review - May 2016

Ok – so I know that a lot of people have been voicing their confusion and disapproval over the inclusion of a bag of PROPERCORN – the UK made, guilt-free pop corn snack – in Glossy Box’s May Glossy Getaways Edit but I have no issue with it – in fact I think it’s a fab idea as it’s the perfect healthy snack to ‘pop’ in your carry-on luggage to eat on the plane or train on your way to your city break or weekend away!  I really love pop corn too – it’s a low-fat, tasty alternative to other less healthy snacks available and with six mouth-watering flavours to choose from this sinless snack from PROPERCORN makes a tasty addition to their May beauty box!

My Verdict

May brings another amazing Collector’s Edition Beauty Box from Glossy Box and this time they’ve teamed up with illustrative superstar OMY Studio to create the gorgeous Glossy Getaways Edit and with four stunning cities being their inspiration – three of which I have been lucky enough to visit myself – I was excited to see which City Box I would receive and when I saw I had been sent the London Box I was more than happy as I always enjoy visiting our capital and the beautiful box design includes city icons such as The London Eye and Big Ben along with famous characters from English Literature like Alice in Wonderland and a quirky characterisation of the Elephant & Castle district!  With such a gorgeous box design I was really hoping that the contents would be equally as amazing and I wasn’t disappointed!  With two full size make-up products and a selection of amazing skin care samples, Glossy Box have included everything you need to look amazing on your City Break or Weekend Getaway!  I loved the make-up included this month – the Velvet Matte Lippie was a lovely shade for my skin tone, and as a real lash lover I can never say no to mascara!  The skin care samples were perfectly sized to take on your travels and with a sensational smelling sun protection added for good measure – your skin will be cleansed, hydrated and protected during your trip away, and the make-up will finish your holiday look off leaving you looking more like one of the Ladies of London than a sassy sight-seeer!  With a couple of slightly disappointing Glossy Boxes so far this year, this Glossy Getaways Collector’s Edition Box has really redeemed their subscription service and given me an amazing selection of skin care and make-up to sample this May!

My Beauty Favourite

My May ‘Glossy Getaways’ Box was crammed full of goodies that are perfect to take on a city break and keep my skin looking healthy and feeling hydrated, but my May Beauty Favourite is definitely Bee Good Youth Enhancing Plump & Firm Moisturiser.  I love it’s light, almost serum-like texture and how it helped to balance and soothe my sensitive and hormonal skin.  It’s the perfect choice for taking on a mini-break and is a big enough sample to last even a full holiday as a little goes a long way.  I have loved teaming it with other Bee Good products I have received in the past and would defiantly recommend their skin care range for people with dry, sensitive skin.

Aww thanks! I have to agree that the Cetaphil could have been bigger, I was lucky that I got a good shade of lip gloss – the peach wouldn’t have been so flattering for me! Loving your review too!
