The Liebster Bloggers Award 2016

The Liebster Bloggers Award 2016

I am so excited to announce that I have been fortunate enough to be nominated for The Liebster Bloggers Award and this post is the ‘Official’ acceptance of my nomination, along with my personal celebration of all the newish/up and coming bloggers that I think truly deserve a little bit of recognition, my answered nomination questions, some information on The Liebster Award itself and of course some ‘Random Facts about Me’ for a bit of fun!

First of all I would like thank the lovely Heidi – a fellow ‘Spoonie’ and Beauty and Lifestyle Blogger who was kind enough to nominate me for The Liebster Award!  It’s amazing to have a fellow blogger recognise what you’re doing and really has made me feel like my choice to begin blogging was a good one and that my work is appreciated!  Heidi is an inspirational lady and I love keeping up with her blog.  Her posts are so well written and have really helped give me the strength to accept my own illness and begin to make changes to improve my life and not let my pain problems stand in my way!  Please take the time to visit Heidi’s Blog – Chronic Beauty – and look her up on Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest too!

Chronic Beauty

Created in 2011 to recognise relatively new blogging talent, the Liebster Award is given to bloggers, by bloggers, and exists only on the internet.  The award is given by a fellow blogger to five to ten of their favourite newish blogs for their creative style and – ‘if chosen to be accepted’ – the nominees must follow a simple set of rules (see below) to become a Liebster Award winning blogger!  It’s a friendly and helpful award within the blogging community and it’s fabulous way to help get each other some well deserved recognition and show your appreciation for their blogs.

The Rules

Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog and social media pages.

Display the award on your blog by including it in a post or via a widget.

Write a little bit about your favourite blog that is not your own and provide links!

Provide 11 random facts about yourself.

List these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here).

Answer the questions provided by the person who nominated you and your blog.

Nominate between five and ten relatively new blogs who you think deserve the recognition of the award.

My Acceptance Q&A’s

These are my answers to the question’s Heidi set me as part of her nomination!

What made you start your blog?

I have been obsessed with everything beauty since I was a very little girl, and that passion has never left me.  I trained as a beauty therapist and loved my job, but chronic pain meant I could no longer pursue my dream career so I starting thinking about how else I could express my love of beauty and be part of the beauty industry at home, and after eight years of unsuccessful attempts to create the perfect website, with the perfect name and the perfect theme (etc. etc. etc.) I made it my goal in 2015 to finally do it and when I found that ‘’ was available everything finally fell in to place and here I am!

Are you an animal lover?

Totally!  I am 100% an animal lover and I probably like animals more than most humans if I’m honest!

Whats your favourite skin care product?

My Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser!  It’s a great natural cleanser, packed full of powerful botanical ingredients that leave my skin feeling squeaky clean without stripping away its natural oils.  It’s also amazing value for money too as a little goes a long way and teamed with the matching Instant Boost Toner it has left my oily skin balanced and relatively blemish free ever since I started using it many years ago!

What, if any, illness or problem do you have that you hate?

I have a few health issues, all of which I hate, but the one I hate the most is my Fibromyalgia.  Although I have suffered with chronic pain for many years now, nothing could prepare me for the sudden onset of my fibro!  For no reason at all my body suddenly began to feel like I was being electrocuted and my muscles were constantly on tired and there was nothing I could do to relieve the pain or refresh the fatigue!  At least with regular pain, you can get a prescription or visit a physio and that can help you feel better, but with fibro there’s no magic cure and it comes and goes as it pleases!  For those who have never experienced an invisible illness – please understand I may ‘look’ good (OK, I may look ‘alright’), but that doesn’t mean I feel good!  My pain is just as real as a broken leg, and just because you can’t SEE it doesn’t mean I am making it up!

Coffee or tea?

Neither!  I don’t really drink hot drinks at all, but if I do I will have a hot chocolate (preferably from Starbucks with whipped cream and marshmallows) or strong mint tea, but there’s no way I could drink a cup of coffee, the thought alone makes me feel unwell!

Coloured lip balm or lipstick?

This is an easy one – Lip Balm 110%!  I am a total lip balm addict and can’t get enough of the stuff!  I even get worried if i realise I have left the house with out one in my handbag!

Where would you like to be in 5 years time?

Being a military wife, I am bound by where my husband is posted, so my ideal would to be back in my hometown, settled in a nice house (not a rather unpleasant married patch) with a family of our own and to still be blogging about beauty, fashion and life in general!  But I think I will be doing the family/blogging thing in another military house far from my beloved Norfolk but as long as I have my husband, my pug and my blog I will be happy!

What country would you choose to live in other than your own?

Well until recently I would’ve said one of the Greek Islands as I love the food, the culture and the climate but with the political turmoil and migration crisis they are currently dealing with I would have to choose somewhere tropical like Mauritius or The Maldives!  I have been lucky enough to visit both with my husband and they are very special places for me!

Jeans or dress?

Jeans all the way!  That’s not to say I don’t enjoy dressing up and putting a pretty dress on, but I have always LOVED my jeans!

If you won the lottery, what would be your first major purchase?

I would buy a big plot of land in the middle of nowhere and design and build my own house!  It’s something I have always wanted to do so that would definitely be first thing I did if I won the lottery!

What’s your most favourite room in a house?

Mmmm! In my old house it would have been my bedroom as it was crisp, clean and full of natural light but in my current house it would be my office as it double as my beauty room and it contains all my blogging tools and beauty products along with the most comfy chair in the world!

11 Random Facts about Me!

I am a huge fan of horror films and the gorier the better!

Despite my initial scepticism – I have found Adult Colouring Books really relaxing!

I am an obsessive list maker!

I have cleared out my ‘hoard’ a hundred times and I still have too much unnecessary rubbish in my life!

I am a messy neat freak with an obsession with disinfectant spray!

I miss Norfolk a lot.

I would love to travel and see more of the world.

I love photography as it captures a moment in time perfectly and immortalises it forever.

I have a secret crush on Dr. House – well it’s not so secret, I am quite proud of it to be fair!

I used to be a beauty therapist and specialised in reflexology.

My guilty pleasure is watching The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Orange County!

My Nominations

I like to keep up to date with lots of fashion and beauty blogs, and have a lot of admiration for so many that I couldn’t possibly list them all BUT here (in no particular order) are my most regular reads, and although a few have larger followings on social media than the ‘rules’ of The Liebster Awards tend to dictate, they are all relatively new to the blogging scene and deserve some recognition on their amazing work!  I know some of you have already been nominated by other people but I still wanted to give you a shout out cos you’re awesome!

Heidi at Chronic Beauty for being an inspiration!

Being Graceful for her beautiful instagram images!

Paula at Thirteen Thoughts for all her helpful tips for newbie bloggers.

Lizzy at Lizzy’s Pretty Things for opening the world up to me and making me want to travel more!
