Your Beauty Treats

Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat™ – Full Size £7.99

Glossy Box 'Red Edition' Review - September 2016

Supercharge your manicure this month with Revlon’s new ColourStay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat™ – their toughest top coat yet!  Their exclusive Diamond Flex Technology™ is specifically designed to activate Revlon’s ColourStay Gel Envy Nail Enamel but is compatible with other nail polishes too, and transforms your home styled manicure into a salon quality, super shiny set of nails!  This top coat promises to give you long lasting, chip resistant colour as well as helping to strengthen your nails to give you everything a set of proper gel nails would give you but at a fraction of the cost!  Now I always use a Gel Polish anyway, so its going to be hard to do a real comparison with normal nail polish but if it gives a long lasting, super shiny diamond hard finish to my gel manicure – I always add a clear top coat to give my gels a bit more longevity and it makes it easy to boost shine mid-way through your 3-4 weeks of non-chip colour because once a nail tech always a nail tech! – I will be more than happy to swap my regular OPI or Calgel Top Coat for this much more purse friendly option that I can easily get hold of in my local drug store rather than having to visit a salon or beauty wholesalers!

Rodial Smokey Eye Pen in Black – Full Size £17.00

Glossy Box 'Red Edition' Review - September 2016

Rodial’s Smokey Eye Pen is a soft, smokey-effect eyeliner which enhances the eyes with super-rich pigment and gel-effect definition.  The long-lasting, soft formula blends easily for a buildable smokey eye with all day hold, and the handy smudging brush on the end of the pencil makes getting the perfect dramatic smokey eyed look quick and super simple, even on the go!  Safe to use across your water-line as well as your top and bottom lash line, this gel-like kohl liner is great for tight-lining too, giving your eyes extra definition and its long lasting as well as richly pigmented your smokey look will stay put all day and all night too!  I love a good gel liner as they really are so easy to apply compared to the old kohl pencils we had to rely on when I first started wearing eye liner, and they give amazing depth of colour as well as long lasting results which is perfect when you want to travel light and leave your make-up bag at home!  This Rodial Pencil is a classic make-up must-have and its a great addition this months Red Magazine Glossy Box Edit!

Vitamasques Hydro Face Mask Rose of Jericho – Full Size £7.99

Glossy Box 'Red Edition' Review - September 2016

With Sheet Masks and K-Beauty being a huge beauty trend right now I was pleased to see that Glossy Box were getting in on the action with the Vitamasques Hydro Face Mask being included in this months box!  I love sheet masks and this particular mask has been specifically designed to provide a hit of hydration and add additional moisture the skin giving you up to 120 hours of hydration and health in just 30 minutes!  The mask contains the patented AMF (Artificial Moisturising Factor) which enhances the skin’s ability to retain moisture and is enriched with extracts from the Rose of Jericho, which also enhances and further optimises moisture retention in the skin making this ideal for tired, sun parched skin and people who need an extra hydration boost to keep their skin looking perfect and on point!  At just £7.99 this mask is also great value for money and is easily worked in to your current beauty routine making it a great addition to this months Glossy Box Edit!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara – Full Size £19.00

Glossy Box 'Red Edition' Review - September 2016

Too Faced’s iconic Better Than Sex Mascara has a sexy hourglass-shaped brush which helps unlock their unique volumizing formula, thickening and lengthening lashes while adding a gorgeous curl for the most extreme, mind-blowing look going!  In just one coat this mascara promises that lashes will be left full, defined, and stretched to unbelievable lengths, and adding a second coat will ensure lashes look even more luscious, curled, and dramatic, but add a third coat (yes…that’s right – three coats of mascara!) and you’ve achieved the most intense, voluminous, waterproof lashes possible!  Now I am a huge fan of Too Faced make-up – their bronzers are to die for and their palettes are the cutest thing around but I wasn’t overly keen on the whole ‘three coats’ idea and to be honest I was left a little underwhelmed with this ‘orgasmic’ mascara.  Don’t get me wrong – it is fab for giving you added volume and curl on the first and second coat, but I found adding the third just left me with heavy, clumpy lashes which is not a good look at all!  I am a big fan of Benefit’s ‘They’re Real’ as it gives real oomph with just a single coat for me, so I was maybe expecting a bit more from Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara, which I didn’t get, but I will still be using it now the rainy weather is on the way and I need a waterproof formula – but I will stick to just two coats which gave my lashes a nice boost and avoided the dreaded spider-lash look!

The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Lip Balm – Full Size £12.00

Glossy Box 'Red Edition' Review - September 2016

The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Lip Balm is a rich nourishing balm infused with Shea Butter, Pomegranate, Rose Hip and Vitamin E to protect and restore lips, whilst also keeping lips hydrated by creating a protective barrier that seals in moisture for non-sticky, super hydration that last for hours at a time!  The enriched formula infused with natural emollients and antioxidant rich ingredients help plump and hydrate lips, while providing powerful protection against environmental pollutants and decrease the damage caused by free-radicals.  Omegas 3 and 6 also have anti-inflamitory properties meaning it is perfect for dry chapped lips and for reducing fine lines and wrinkles around the delicate lip area!  Now as an Official Lip Balm Addict I can’t resist a good lip balm, especially one that is all natural and contains natural Shea Butter, honey and a rich antioxidant blend to help keep my lips looking good, feeling good and staying younger for longer!  This treat from The Organic Pharmacy is definitely a handy little addition this months box and will help ward off the dreaded chapped lips that plague the Autumn and Winter months plus it gives long lasting hydration and it tastes pretty good too!

Bonus Treats

The Body Shop Superfood for your Face Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask – Full Size £15.00

Glossy Box 'Red Edition' Review - September 2016

This new range of Mud Masks from The Body Shop have been taking social media by storm this month so it was a welcome sight to see this Superfood Himalayan Mud Mask in my September Glossy Box!  The sample included gives you enough product for one full face treatment and this traditional Ayurvedic inspired mask  has a distinct tingling sensation and an active charcoal base that works to detoxify and unclog skin that needs to release impurities and toxins to help reveal a healthy looking, youthful glow.  Bamboo charcoal is a powerful, detoxifying superfood and it is often found in smoothies and juices as it is known to absorb accumulated impurities before carrying them out of the body, and now The Body Shop have brought you this amazing ingredient in a handy face mask too!  After just one use my skin felt deeply cleansed and detoxified and my pores appeared more refined and unclogged.   The 100% vegetarian formula left my skin looking smooth and glowing and with no nasties like silicone, mineral oils or paraffins included, this mask is a great way to get naturally radiant and more youthful skin!  A great way to rejuvenate the skin and a fab little bonus treat for this months Red Edition Glossy Box too!

MUA Eye Shadow Palette in Hall of Fame – Full Size £4.00

Glossy Box 'Red Edition' Review - September 2016

As a little bonus this month I have also received the MUA Palette I had chosen to have in my August Glossy Box, but due to a slight ‘technical hitch’ at Glossy Box HQ I (along with many others) got the incorrect palette!  While I was a little disappointed when I opened last months box, I do love MUA Palettes so when I found out that Glossy Box were sending out my original choice as a bonus in my September Box I was more than happy to enjoy TWO FULL SIZE MUA Palettes instead of one!  I love the colours in the Hall of Fame Palette and it gives me more than just my ‘safe’ nudes to play with so I cant wait to get watching and sampling very soon!

My Verdict

Wow!  What a whopping edit Glossy Box have delivered to us this September!  I am almost speechless!  I honestly adore my monthly Glossy Boxes so it’s often hard to say anything negative about them, but in this case they have really put together a perfectly balanced beauty box with a selection of skin care and make-up treats to shake up your beauty routine and wake up your make-up bag now Summer is drawing to a close and Autumn is fast approaching!  they have weather proofed your make-up ready for the Winter weather with waterproof mascara and gel eyeliner, and added some super hydrating skin care to help repair the Summer skin damage and protect from the up coming cold too!  I love the Vitamasques sheet mask – I am really getting int my K-Beauty now – and the Organic Lip Balm is ideal for the original lip balm addict (that’s me if you were wondering!) so I am really happy with the full sized skin care this month, and the little bonus skin care treat – The Body Shop’s new Superfoods Mud Mask – is also very fitting for my annoyingly oily Summer skin!  With a handy gel eyeliner and mascara duo in this months box you have two of your make-up must-haves covered and although I wasn’t overly excited about the formula of the mascara (I found the three coats thing was just too much) I did love that it was waterproof which is an essential once the Winter weather sets in!  I was happy to see my original choice of MUA Palettes in this months box, and adore the range of colours I now have to play with and the diamond strong top coat from Revlon will be great for keeping my darker Autumn nail colours super shiny and looking good!  With a huge RRP of over £60.00 this months Glossy Box is amazing value for money, and I love the gorgeous Red Magazine Collaboration Box – a definite keeper!  Overall this is a great box for me with a great range of products that I can easily incorporate into my current beauty routine so nothing will be going to waste this month, and I think Red’s Beauty Editor did a fantastic job selecting September’s Glossy Box line up as it is honestly one of the best boxes this year!

My Beauty Favourite

When I first opened this months box I was sure that my Beauty Favourite was going to be the Too faced Better Than Sex Mascara, but I wasn’t overly keen on having to layer up three coats to get the look I could get in just one with other mascaras on the market, so my September Beauty Favourite is the Vitamasques Hydro Face Mask as it was so nourishing and really quenched my dehydrated Summer skin without leaving it oily or over loaded!  The more sheet masks I try the more I fall in love with the technology and I really hope to be seeing much more mask based skin care appearing in my regular beauty boxes over the coming months!
