I don’t know about you but I absolutely love shopping for new clothes and one of my all time favourite fashion brands has to be Karen Millen because no matter what I am shopping for – they have got it covered!  With everything from the simple white shirt to classic blue denim jeans they have all your basics in hand, but they also have some amazing couture inspired pieces that will wow any crowd on a night out, plus with a selection of shoes, handbags and other accessories to match, Karen Millen is a great one-stop shop for a seasonal wardrobe ‘pick-me up’ so I am delighted to be able to share with you my Valentines Edit from their newly launched Spring/Summer 2017 Collection showcasing some of my favourite looks from across the range to help you move effortlessly into the new season, putting together a versatile and wearable wardrobe that will stand out from the crowd for all the right reasons!

My Valentines Edit

With the combination of traditional and modern, over-the-top frills and crisp, clean lines, Karen Millen’s Spring/Summer 2017 Collection lends itself perfectly to the romantic, feminine feeling that Valentines Day encompasses within even the most independent of Women, and whether you’re celebrating V-Day with that someone special or whooping it up with your girl friends for ‘Galentines’ – Karen Millen have all your outfit issues under control so all you need to worry about is enjoying yourself this February 14th!

Look One – The Little Red Dress

This simple but elegant dress is cut with a classic Bardot-style neckline which highlights the shoulders and collar-bones, while light gathering on the diagonal flatters the waist making this the perfect statement dress to add to your wardrobe as it is everything you need in an evening dress – Timeless and Elegant!  A great alternative to the traditional Little Black Dress, simply pair with heels and a classic clutch and wait for all eyes to be on you!

This dress is so classically elegant I simply love the figure hugging style that flatters a woman figure without giving too much away.  Ideal for a Romantic Dinner Date, this Vintage-Inspired Dress will soon become a wardrobe favourite as it is the ultimate in understated chic!

The Red Bardot Shoulder Pencil Dress is Available in sizes 6 – 16 and costs £180.00

Look Two – The Retro Midi

Coming Soon to the Karen Millen website, this Button Down Midi Skirt and Pleated Trim Blouse make the perfect pair for a Daytime Date!  Whether it’s a simple Lunch Date or a trip to an Art Gallery to muse over some Great Masters, this two piece gives you a Retro, 70’s Look that will have you feeling comfortable and relaxed without compromising on Style!

I love how both these items work well together but can also be worn with other items in the Spring/Summer 2017 Collection making them versatile and wearable additions to your wardrobe!  The Button Down Midi Skirt and Pleated Trim Blouse can be beautifully teamed with the practical but fashionable Lizard Drawstring Tote for the ultimate Daytime Look!

The Lizard Drawstring Tote comes in Tan and Black and costs £215.00

Look Three – The Pyjama Party

Channeling Marylin Monroe this Pyjama Wrap Jacket and Contrast Piped Trousers make a Fun and Flirty addition to my Valentines Edit!  Perfect for a First Date when you want to look your best, or a Romantic Night on the Town, this Combination of Glamour and Femininity will flatter your figure while keeping you warm in the February weather!

This simple statement look is subtle but sexy, which is why it make my Valentines Look Book Edit, and I love the Vintage feel of the outfit too.  Pair with Heels and Karen Millen’s Classic Brompton Leather and Suede Clutch and your outfit is complete!

The Brompton Leather and Suede Clutch comes in Five Shades (Black, Navy, Green, Yellow and Nude) and costs £99.00

Look Four – The Tailored Jumpsuit

Another Vintage inspired selection, this Tailored V-Neck Jumpsuit shows off your fun side while staying stylish at the same time!  I really like the shorter, Capri-Style leg length of this Jumpsuit – it is hinting at the Glamour of the 1950’s, where as the Muted Two-Toned Colouring seems to be channeling the freer and more adventurous 60’s which gives this look a retro but modern feel.

I like this twist on the Jumpsuits we have all become accustomed too lately as it is much more accessible to petite girls who can’t always carry the flowing, maxi-style all-in-ones – I speak from experience – and I can see this style of Jumpsuit being a great alternative to a dress as it still shows off your legs, but is a little bit more comfortable and less formal!  Team it with a classic Almond-Toed Block Heeled Court (seen here in Orange) and your Glamorous but Modern look is complete!

The Classic Almond-Toed Block Heeled Courts come in Three Shades (Camel, Green and Orange), are Available in sizes 36 – 41 and cost £140.00

Look Five – The Simple ‘No Frills’ Classic

Layered frills and pussy-bow detailing take centre stage in this neatly fitting sleeveless blouse has been teamed beautifully with a hard-working wardrobe staple, the classic high-waisted mid-blue jeans which adds an instant dash of urban cool to this over-the-top and ultra-feminine piece!  The feminine style of this outfit is mirrored by the addition of a pair stunning blush heeled boots which have been designed with sleek contouring lines and neutral colour tone and work to effectively elongate the legs and balance your outfit perfectly!  Made using soft kid leather and delicate mesh these boots are a beautiful way to show that boots can be feminine too!

I think this has to be my favourite outfit by far as it is easily the most versatile!  Each aspect can be mixed and matched with other items in your wardrobe to give you as much wear as possible and I think you could easily wear this during the Day or Evening for a relaxed but stylish look!  Finished with this bold statement Stripe Bucket Bag this crisp, fresh outfit will work well into the summer too!

The Super Frill Shirt is Available in sizes 6 – 19 and costs £115.00, The Mid-Wash Stretch Jeans are Available in sizes 6 – 16 and cost £90.00, The Blush Suede and Mesh Boots are Available in sizes 36 – 41 and cost £160.00 and The Stripe Bucket Bag costs £110.00

My Verdict on the Spring/Summer 2017 Collection

Overall I am really impressed with Karen Millen’s Spring/Summer Collection this year!  I love their twists on vintage, military and safari styles, and the softer, more romantic pieces are perfect to carry you through to the Summer with bold printed florals and vivid leaf prints sitting well along side super-feminine frills and ruffles.  You can easily mix and match items from across the Collection to create endless outfit combinations that combine retro, vintage and modern elements perfectly for a clean, fresh feel that will not only give you a new look for the Spring but will also revive older pieces from your current wardrobe too!  They’ve included items that will become classic wardrobe staples, like the Red Bardot Shoulder Pencil Dress and the Super Frill Shirt which is something I always like to see as all too often many high-end brands design far too many overly ‘on-trend’ items that quickly date and simply aren’t an affordable investment for the every day shopper on the high street, but here you see beautifully cut, well designed looks that will last season after season with the help of some key new additions each year which will make your money go that little bit further than you may have expected!  Although Karen Millen is still an expensive brand to shop from, their attention to detail and the finishing of the products they create is clear to see and as long as you shop their Collections wisely, there is no reason even the savviest and most frugal shopper can’t add at least one of My Valentines Edit items to their new season wardrobe, if not more!
