The Pip Box February Preview – How to go Cruelty Free in 2017

I am a big advocate for Cruelty Free Beauty and love discovering new brands that I can indulge in without worrying about whether they are 100% ethical or not, so when my regular Cruelty Free Beauty Box from the USA was discontinued I started looking for another Subscription to take its place, and a few months later The Pip Box appeared on the Social Media scene here in the UK with all the same ethical standards but without the hefty shipping costs and customs charges and it instantly caught my attention!  Their Beauty Team have searched far and wide to bring their subscribers the very best Cruelty Free make-up and skin care at an amazing price and with a selection of full size and luxury sample sized products plus a donation to the charity Cruelty Free International featuring in the first edition of their new Beauty Box, they certainly seem to have hit the ground running and add to that some handy discount vouchers too you have a real treat of box to spoil yourself with each month!

Your Beauty Treats

Saturated Colour Lip Vinyl Liquid Lipstick in Frisky Fuchsia – Full Size £7.00

100% Cruelty Free and Vegan Friendly, this Liquid Lipstick/Lip Gloss hybrid will give you a slick of rich, high pigmented splash of colour without the stickiness of a lip gloss and as an added bonus it can also be worn as a lip-stain too by applying a small amount of product and blending out with a lip brush making this a super versatile lip product that looks good and won’t dry to your lips either!  The shade included in this months Pip Box is Frisky Fuchsia – a luxuriously rich berry pink that is suitable for all skin tones, and as it can be worn several ways it is a great product for me!  I love the colour and it is perfect for the season as it brightens up your make-up look and is a great price too, so what is not to love?

Bloomtown Botanicals Nourishing Mini Soap Bar in The Grove – Full Size £1.40

Cornwall based Botanical Powerhouse Brand Bloomtown make gorgeous hand-crafted soaps using premium plant oils and butters that not only help wash away the dirt and impurities of the day, but also help leave skin feeling soft and silky too.  Free from palm oil, animal products, wheat, sulfates, SLS’s, parabens, synthetic colours and detergents, this fresh citrus blend soap is the perfect travel companion as well as being a great way to get to know which of Bloomtown’s fabulous soaps you like most and I simply love the Blood Orange and Pink Grapefruit fragrance too!  I have tried a few of Bloomtown’s products over the last few months and I have loved them all so I was really excited to see this mini treat in January’s Pip Box and  will definitely be looking at adding to my Bloomtown collection with a few full size soaps very soon!

Akamuti Green Clay Face Mask – Full Size £4.95

Made using sun-dried green clay from Africa this Mask has remarkable cleansing powers and it is great for drawing out the dirt and impurities that may be lurking out of sight.  Green clay is also ideal for anyone with sensitive or problem skin or any complexion in need of some attention as it soothes the skin as well as removing any underlying impurities that may have built up in the skin layers from daily cosmetic use!  Sun-dried clay retains all its natural minerals and as it hasn’t been chemically processed in any way you are guaranteed a pure and detoxifying cleansing experience!  I am a huge face mask fan and Clay Masks are a great for my oily/combination skin, but I haven’t used a powder based mask for years so I was happy to channel my beauty therapy skills and get my mask on and enjoy some skin care TLC!  I love the natural base of this mask and it left my skin feeling clean, fresh and feeling soft and silky too so this purse-friendly product is a big hit with me and my horrible hormonal skin right now!

PHB Ethical Beauty Mascara in Black – Full Size £15.95

PHB’s Award Winning All-in-One Natural Mascara is the perfect all-encompassing mascara that lengthens, thickens and volumises lashes in one go with a gentle water-resistant formula that lasts all day without smudging, drying or flaking – Sounds perfect to me!  I am a total Lash Junkie so to find a Cruelty Free, Plant Based Mascara that works as well as the likes of Benefit and MAC!  It’s PH balanced making it ideal for sensitive eyes and the botanical formula not only adds volume and length to lashes but it also strengthens and protects your natural lash at the same time too!  I have never heard of PHB Ethical Beauty before, so I am really happy to be introduced to a new Cruelty Free brand that offers great products and results as well as fabulous ethical values!

PHB Ethical Beauty Eyeliner in Black – Full Size £8.95

Another product from PHB, this Natural Organic Pencil Eyeliner is enriched with a gentle nourishing formula of plant oils and waxes and offers rich, highly pigmented colour for dense, long-lasting colour that glides on smoothly for fast, easy and accurate application!   Water resistant yet always gentle to even the most sensitive eyes this is great for me as I wear contact lenses and often have issues with allergies to dust and pollen so what ever else I want out of an eye liner, water proof is the top of the list!  It’s a true black that makes my eyes pop and works really well with the PHB Mascara and the Saturated Colour Lip Vinyl too!  I use a lot of Black Liner so this Gel Finish Pencil is a great addition to my make-up bag!

Bonus Treats

As well as an amazing line up of Cruelty Free beauty treats, this month The Pip Box have also included a selection of Exclusive Discount Codes to use on some of the fabulous brands included in February’s Box which means you can explore more of the Cruelty Free beauty ranges without having to splash out the full price for anything!  What a Fab little bonus!

My Verdict

With so much choice in the beauty world, it is often hard to be 100% sure what brands are really Cruelty Free and which are actually owned by companies that have less than ethical animal testing policies, so The Pip Box is a great way to discover the best Cruelty Free beauty available in the UK without breaking the bank in the process!  One of several new independent beauty boxes to launch this year, The Pip Box has a strong ethical stance when it comes to animals testing and this is why they wanted to ensure that other beauty enthusiasts get to enjoy the same fabulous products that they have been enjoying since going 100% Cruelty Free!  Their first box has a great line up of skin care and make-up to help brighten your make-up routine and spring clean your skin care routine, and with everything easily fitting into your regular beauty routine it is a versatile and usable box which is exactly what I look for in a beauty box!  The fact that everything is also Cruelty Free is just an added bonus, and with most products also being plant-based and organic too, this box of beauty goodness is a real treat for your post-Christmas skin!  The product selection is really good and the fact that they have included treats from well-known and up and coming brands gives a balanced box that shows you exactly what the Cruelty Free Beauty Industry has to offer and truly helps you discover new brands that you may not have had the chance to experience before!  With three full-sized products and two luxe samples, along with a selection exclusive discount coupons this box is amazing value for money and I have loved exploring the brands they have chosen for their February Box!  I love the mascara and eye liner duo – it is perfect for my sensitive eyes and with hay fever season not far off I need as many waterproof products as I can get right now, and the luscious lip colour is the perfect berry pink too!  The clay mask is ideal for my sensitive, hormonal skin and I love the little soap sampler as Bloomtown is a favourite brand of mine and the fresh citrus fragrance is so uplifting making it perfect for these dark, gloomy days and long nights!  Over all this box is a fabulous way to help you go Cruelty Free in 2017 and helps you to discover new brands that aren’t just great to use, but are also 100% Cruelty Free and in some cases Vegan too!

My Beauty Favourite

My February Preview Box Beauty Favourite has to be the PHB Ethical Beauty Eyeliner as I simply love the smooth application and long-lasting, plant-based formula!  I adore Black Eye Liner too, so this is a great addition to this months Pip Box for me and it will be used a lot over the coming months as it is super water-resistant and as hay-fever season is just around the corner, my eyes will be suffering but now, thanks to The Pip Box my make-up won’t be budging!
